FAQ's & Policies

  • What is a home organizer?
A home organizer helps declutter, organize, and optimize the spaces in your home. This can include everything from sorting and organizing closets, kitchens, and garages to creating functional storage solutions. We help create better flow and function in the space.
  • How do I know if I need a professional organizer?
If you find it difficult to maintain order in your home, feel overwhelmed by clutter, or have trouble finding space for everything, a professional organizer can help. Organizers are also helpful for people who are downsizing, moving, or dealing with major life changes like a new baby, divorce, or the loss of a loved one.
  • How long does it take to organize a home?
The time it takes to organize depends on the size of your home, the amount of clutter, and the specific services you require. For example, organizing a single room can take a few hours, while a full home organization could take several days. A consultation with the organizer will give you a more accurate estimate.
  • Will POM Organizing help me get rid of things?
Yes! A key part of the organizing process is decluttering. Home organizers are skilled at helping you decide what to keep, donate, sell, or throw away. They can help you make decisions without feeling overwhelmed or guilty about letting go of items. POM will take all donations out of your home for a fee.
  • Do I need to prepare before you arrive?
It’s helpful if you can clear off surfaces, put away any obvious clutter, and make a list of problem areas. However, professional organizers are used to working with clutter, so don’t feel like you need to “clean up” beforehand. Just be ready to discuss your goals and the areas you want to focus on. If there are items that you intuit that you will be needing during our session it's helpful to purchase beforehand, but also not 100% necessary.
  • Does POM Organizing provide storage solutions?
Yes, a home organizer will often suggest or provide storage solutions tailored to your home’s specific needs. This might include containers, shelves, closet organizers, or custom storage systems. They can also advise you on space-saving strategies to make the most of your home’s layout.
  • What is the investment for home organizing with POM?
Pricing can vary depending on the organizer’s experience, the size of your home, and the level of organization required. Some organizers charge by the hour, while others may offer package deals. POM quotes by the project, and the average cost can range from $75 to $150 per hour.
  • What areas of the home can you organize?
Kitchens: Organizing pantries, cabinets, and countertops. Closets: Sorting clothes, shoes, and accessories. Bathrooms: Organizing toiletries, linen closets, and under-sink areas. Garages: Organizing tools, sports equipment, and seasonal items. Home offices: Streamlining paperwork, office supplies, and digital files. Living rooms: Organizing bookshelves, entertainment centers, and decor. Basements and attics: Decluttering storage spaces and creating efficient storage systems.
  • Do I need to be involved in the organizing process?
While the level of involvement is up to you, it’s usually helpful to be involved, especially when deciding what to keep or get rid of. Organizers are there to guide you, but they’ll typically want your input on sentimental or important items. Once the main decluttering is finished, POM can be left to finish out the job. POM will always check in along the way to make sure you are comfortable and agree with the work they are doing.
  • Do you offer virtual organizing services?
Yes, many home organizers now offer virtual services, where they help clients organize remotely. This might include virtual consultations, creating organization plans, or guiding you through the process via video calls. Virtual organizing is especially useful for people in remote areas or those with busy schedules.
